Where masonry has cracked and failed as a result of soil movement, element failure, weathering or increased loads and stresses, the innovative and versatile Stati-Beam system ties the masonry together and creates deep masonry beams within of the existing design.
They are created by introducing two parallel layers of bed joint reinforcement, each of which contains a pair of spiral rods that constitute the upper and lower flanges of the brick beam. Beams of deep masonry are able to cover areas of destruction of masonry, redistribute the applied loads and increase the strength of the wall against stretching, displacement and bending, creating the effect of tightening the structures.
Unreinforced brick panels are strong in compression, but relatively weak in resistance to shear and tension loads. Walls can bend and crack under the influence of increased loads and stresses. Such stresses can be caused by: localized movement of the soil / subsidence, destruction of bridges or fluctuations in humidity / temperature. Reinforced masonry has greater resistance to shear and tensile loads, because it is reinforced by plastic and elastic steel reinforcement.
Reinforced brickwork can be used wherever it has lost its bearing capacity. It is commonly used to accommodate areas of localized soil movement to alleviate the need for partial foundation reinforcement. In other cases, it can be used to span between concrete platforms or piles to reduce the cost of repairing subsidence of structures. Reinforcement of horizontal joints can also be used to increase resistance to wind load and expand the centers of movable connections.
Each case is unique, like the human body. However, consulting with a specialist in the construction industry will help you feel more confident and make an informed decision about the next steps.
